We recently found out that Shopify, the company that hosts our online store, automatically opts people in to sharing their credit card information and private information with Shopify for it to be saved in their servers. This was labeled as "remember me" and "save my information for a faster checkout," giving the impression that customer would be creating an account with us instead of allowing Shopify to obtain and keep their phone number, name, address, and credit card in its own servers.
To be clear, this appeared automatically whenever people paid with a credit card. The customer chose not to pay with Shop Pay, but Shopify deemed it necessary to mislead the customer into sharing private payment data to loop them into the Shop Pay system.
This is a gross violation of our terms of service and data privacy policies.
We have now deactivated Shop Pay and Shop Pay Installments as payment options on our site.
We do understand that both have legitimate uses, and can be better for certain customers, which is why we had these payment methods activated and tried to work with Shopify to remove the Shop Pay sign up box from our checkout page.
Shopify was only willing to turn it from an opt-out box to an opt-in box, which retained the clearly misleading text that makes no direct mention that customers will be providing credit card numbers with Shopify Inc.
If you have a Shopify-hosted website and wish to at least turn this into an opt-in service, please contact Shopify Customer Support and request that they make this a manual opt-in service.

In summary, we deactivated Shop Pay because of highly unethical business practices knowingly committed by Shopify Inc. and to protect the data privacy (name, home address, phone number, and credit card information) of our customers. Please contact us if you'd like to use Shop Pay.
Amazon Pay, Google Pay, and Apple Pay are still payment options on our website. These are opt-in services that are do not manipulate users into signing up.
