As of July 1st, 2024, we are splitting our inventory into two sections:
1. Higher-quality and rare items that include the cost of shipping. These will continue to have full detailing. ("Higher-Priced Items")
2. Inexpensive items that have more stains or are considered to be less fashionable. The cost of shipping is excluded from these items and they won't have as many details as our other items. ("Lower-Priced Items")
The cost of shipping individual items continues to increase significantly, so we are changing our operations to focus on selling more items in each order instead of one at a time.
Higher-Priced Items & Automatic Discounts:
The normal categories (Furisode, Men's Kimono, Iromuji, etc.) that you click will only show these items. The cost of shipping is included for most of the world, but we're introducing a discount to include the decreased cost of shipping when ordering multiple items.
If you order 3 higher-priced items (certain items may not apply, such as individual obijimes or food), we will give you an automatic discount of $15 off each additional item, starting with the second item. (If you order two items, there's no discount, but if you order three items, two will be discounted.)
*No Discount* Furisode 1 ($95), Houmongi 1 ($55) = $150
*Start of Discount* Furisode 1 ($95), Houmongi 1 ($55), Tomesode 1 ($67) = $217 - $15 x 2 = $187
*Continued Discount* F1 ($95), H1 ($55), T1 ($67), T2 ($78), F2 ($130) = $425 - $15 x 4 = $365
These discounts are possible due to lower prices with shipping large boxes through UPS than individually through Japan Post.
The discounts will be automatically generated in your cart, so you don't need to type in any coupons. If it doesn't appear to be generating correctly, you can contact us, but it's likely that some of the items are not eligible for this discount.
Lower-Priced Items:
The continually increasing cost of shipping has made it difficult to continue selling the full range of kimonos and accessories. We are now listing items that aren't as stylish or have a large amount of damage at lower costs with shipping & handling excluded in order to provide these at lower prices for customers.
In order to minimize our costs in order to offer these lower prices, we are unable to provide extra information or photos of these products. Due to the conditions of these items, we suggest they be worn informally, used as display, or upcycled. (Some of these may be cleaned by customers, but the cost of cleaning here in Kyoto is significantly more expensive than our sale price.)
We also suggest that you order 3 or more items, as the cost of shipping becomes significantly cheaper when you make a large purchase. (Certain items such as food and lightweight items may not be included, even though they have lower prices.)

The cost to ship is determined by the size and weight of each item. If we're able to fit everything into a smaller package and save a significant amount of shipping fees (such as going from a Size 100 to a Size 80 UPS box), we will refund the difference to the customer.
**Refunds & exchanges are not allowed on lower-priced items.**
What if I order items from each section in one order?
If you order items from both sections, we will refund excess shipping fees, excluding the ~$10 handling fee.
For example, if you order two $50 kimonos and one $7.50 kimono, you'll be charged a shipping fee of $30+. We will refund $20 from the shipping fee as long as they all fit into the Size 80 box from UPS.
The cost of shipping is included in the higher-priced items but not the lower-priced items, so there may be times when we need to send them separately or in the same box while using the shipping fee to pay for the increased cost of shipping.
Any refund of shipping fees will depend on each individual order and we can't guarantee a refund until we package the order after it has been placed.
